  Rika Rose Kuran was close to Kaname before Yuki was born. She was kept in the same room as her little sister Yuki when she was younger. Rika and Yuki look the same but the only difference is that Rika's hair is longer than Yuki's and her eyes are the same color as Kaname's. When she was 7 years old her uncle Raido attacked her family. Their mother grabbed both Yuki and Rika while her father and Kaname went outside. Their mother sealed all both Yuki's and Rika's memories and turn them into humans. When Rika woke up Kaname was there with her then he took her to Kaien Cross a family friend knowing she would be safe there. He also took Yuki there a little bit later. She became very close to Kaien and Yuki not knowing Yuki was her real sister. Kaname came to Kaien's every once and awhile to check up on Yuki and Rika. 

       Rika stayed with Kaien for years and then joined the day class but still stayed at Kaien's house for a year because she would help Kaien out with work and cleaning around the house. Rika is also a gurdain of the acadmey and has the same anti-vampire weapon as Yuki called Arthemis. Kaien made a strict rule that Rika wasn't allowed near the night class students unless she was protecting the day class students. Unlike Yuki, Rika has the top grade in her class. She's always close to Kaname and is always seen around him when he's not near the night class dorms.  Kaname asked the Chairrman Kaien Cross to let Rika around the night class students when she turned 15. Kaien allowed it but also brought up that she might be able to break the spell her mother put on her memory. When Rika was about 17 years old she started to see blood than it would vanish when ever someone else came around her. One night it was bad the she went to bed and didn't go out on protrol with Yuki and Zero. Rika woke up from sleeping to Kaname giving her his blood. She got all of her memories back and her true form was awaken, a pureblood vampire. After that Rika joined the Night Class and stayed as a Gurdain. She continued to stay at the night class even after she had graduated. She stayed to make sure the acadmey could keep peace between the day and night class students.
